I always encourage ladies of all ages, sizes, shapes and lifestyles to do a boudoir session. I truly believe that every woman is beautiful in her own right, and boudoir photography is the perfect way to draw that beauty out and emphasise it!
The most common misconception people have about boudoir photography is that it’s only for women with a certain “look”; long legs, a perfect hourglass figure, young features and a petite size. This couldn’t be further from the truth. EVERYONE can do a boudoir session!
Boudoir photography is a celebration of everything that is womanly, and women often forget that they are sensual beings as they become increasingly busier with careers or motherhood.
The ladies I get into the studio often feel nervous and self-conscious in the beginning, and usually they don’t do it for themselves but for their partners. However, at the end of the session, they walk away with a boost in confidence and a great feeling about their decision to take the plunge!
For my boudoir sessions there is always an all female crew to make sure the clients are 100% comfortable. I always work with my favourite make-up artists on boudoir sessions; women that I trust to make the client look like the best version of herself she can possibly look. In addition to photographing the lovely ladies, I help them with positioning and angles for the most flattering looks possible, and I tell them honestly what works and what doesn’t and why. This helps create a mutual trust and friendly atmosphere. Most importantly, my clients always grow more relaxed after a short time and have a lot of fun!
I’m a big fan of the natural, understated “girl next door” look for boudoir sessions. The women bring enough beauty to the session without the need for exaggerated poses and overly sexual expressions, and the results look effortless and romantic, which is what our lovely clients want. Sometimes they blushingly tell me about their worries that it will be too sexual, unnatural or downright “trashy”, and I have a lot of pride and love for the fact that none of those words apply to my portfolio of boudoir photography. I have a degree in photography as well as being an AIPP accredited professional photographer, which means you can rest assured that you are getting a verified professional service.
Boudoir photography is great for brides-to-be and girlfriends who want to surprise their partners with a beautiful collection of photos, but it is also for everyone else. I cannot express enough how much I love it when people are overwhelmed and surprised by how stunning they look in the photos, and that is what makes boudoir photography one of my favourite things in this world!
