Ms L’s Dark Fantasy Boudoir Session

Book lovers, this one’s for you.

When Ms L arrived for her session, she brought more than lingerie – she brought a full story.

A lover of fantasy fiction and a true alt soul, Ms L came in with a vision straight out of the pages of her favourite books. With a painful past and a powerful sense of identity, she wanted to create something that felt authentic, edgy, and deeply personal. And I could not have been more excited to help bring it all to life!

A hardcore bookworm, Ms L’s favourite author is Sarah J. Maas, and she came armed with a gorgeous edition of A Court of Thorns and Roses – complete with a black and gold colour scheme and all the moody magic you’d expect. She even has a quote from the author tattooed on her, that’s how much these stories mean to her.

But the real show-stopper? The outfit. She didn’t just bring something pretty to wear – she made something powerful. Taking a simple black dress she found on Shein, she sewed on delicate chains and sparkly gemstones, cut a daring slit, and finished the whole look with a handmade dagger tied to her thigh. Yes, you read that right. A dagger! It was equal parts fae warrior and gothic queen, and it was perfection.

With her bold lipstick, dark smokey eyes, and that incredible outfit, Ms L was a vision – unapologetically herself, balanced between elegance and edge. She stepped in front of the camera like she belonged in the pages of a fantasy novel, and every frame of her session told its own little story.

In other sets of her session, she balanced the dark and fantastical with softer looks and lingerie, but she also stepped completely out of her comfort zone and did a bondage theme for one set. After past trauma, it was time for Ms L to take back control, and she did so in the most vulnerable but powerful way possible – and on her own terms. Bondage doesn’t need to be about submission, it’s a way to take back what is yours in a safe and controlled environment.

As an avid reader myself, this session lit a fire in me. It reminded me just how powerful boudoir can be when it reflects the things we’re passionate about. Whether it’s fantasy, romance, horror, or classic literature – your favourite stories can absolutely be a part of your story.

So let’s talk book-themed boudoir. If you’re a reader who dreams in chapters and quotes, here are a few ways we can bring that into your session:

  • Props from your favourite books – like Ms L’s collector’s edition hardcover.
  • Themed outfits or costumes – think subtle nods or full-blown fantasy gowns, warrior belts, vintage lingerie, or dark academic vibes.
  • Meaningful tattoos, quotes, or body art – bring the words you live by into the spotlight.
  • Candles, leather-bound books, flowers, skulls, scrolls – we can get as moody or romantic as you like.
  • Setting the scene – we can style your set to match your aesthetic, whether that’s cozy book-nook, castle chic, or brooding villain energy.

And if you’re not quite sure where to start, don’t worry – that’s what I’m here for. We’ll plan every detail together so your session feels like stepping into a story written just for you.

Ms L reminded me how much power there is in embracing who we are, scars and all, and letting that shine through. Her session was a beautiful, bold, and badass celebration of individuality – and I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
