It’s so lovely to see signs at weddings that say “Please no phones, iPads or cameras during our ceremony!” As photographers, it’s like music to our ears when brides and grooms go “unplugged”, and it’s not because we don’t want guests to enjoy the ceremony – it’s quite the opposite. When you are watching something as important as two of your nearest and dearest declare their love for each other, it’s nice to watch it as it happens, not through a viewfinder or the back of a phone. The bride and groom want nothing else than to see your happy faces as you witness their big moment! The guests often want to capture everything so they can share it on Facebook and with the bride and groom after the event, but don’t worry, because quite honestly, the professional photographer’s got it covered! The couple has paid a good amount to have one or two professionals document every second of their day, so trust us to do our jobs for the ceremony and formal bridal party photos following, and you can snap to your heart’s content for the rest of the day! In fact, modern weddings often have access to selfie sticks and photobooths at the reception, and there is nothing more fun than to look back at those happy snaps after the event (except for maybe flicking through a wedding album by the official photographer where there are no phones or iPads in sight)!
